Our Education Programme
Carmel Valley Estate has a long history in education and outreach, starting with their first kids camp in July 1990 which ran for 2 weeks, educating and inseminating children to the ecology of the tropical rainforest and cultivation of cocoa, citrus and other tropical fruits and vegetables. For the past 25 years the Estate has hosted and conducted educational tours and site visits on honey and cocoa production, sustainable farming practices for tropical fruits and vegetables and the ecology of tropical rainforest.
Presently CVE’s main operation is food production. The Estate seeks to develop on the Agriculture Education Programme with enhancement and development of the socio-cultural aspects of the sector. Among the many opportunities for learning in the outdoors, through our education programme, students will be sensitized to the Agricultural sector and its importance while gaining an appreciation for sustainable development. The Estate offers great exposure and a natural tropical outdoor escape for many children. An opportunity for teachers and students to apply what is learnt in the classroom in a real world setting awaits. Navigate to our CONTACT page for more details and information on booking a visit. Teaching Outside the ClassroomTeaching and learning can become inherently spontaneous and student-centered when moved from the confines of the classroom into the world at large. Students must put into practice “in the real world” what they have theorized about from behind a desk. Field experiences early in a student’s career can also be formative and can inspire students to continue in a field such as agriculture, natural sciences and entrepreneurship .
There are many ways learning may be extend outside the classroom at Carmel Valley Estate. |
